Custom Spring Sports Jerseys in Calgary — Baseball, Soccer, Lacrosse, Rugby & More

Calgary spring sports season is short, intense, and unforgiving. Tryouts, league deadlines, and the first game can all hit within the same three-week window. Coaches and team managers don't need a long sales pitch — they need jerseys that arrive on time, fit well, and survive an entire season of sweat, mud, slides, and washing-machine punishment.

That's exactly what we've been making for Calgary teams since 2001 — currently rated 4.9 out of 5 across 232 Google reviews.

This post walks through everything you need to know before ordering custom spring jerseys for your team: why teams print with us, the sports we make jerseys for, decoration methods, turnaround times, pricing, and how to get started.

Why print your spring jerseys with us

Coaches and team parents have plenty of options in Calgary. Here's what actually sets Garment Express apart — and why teams come back season after season:

  • Live, in-person design with our in-house expert. Walk into the shop or get on a quick call and we'll design your jersey with you in real time. Fast live mockups, fast revisions, and professional recommendations on font choice, name and number sizing, and logo placement before anything goes to press. No surprises when the jerseys are unboxed — what you see in the mockup is exactly what you get.
  • Highest-quality vinyl heat transfer, durability guaranteed. We use premium-grade heat-transfer vinyl rated to last the full life of the garment — no peeling, no cracking, no fading after a season of wash cycles. Best material on the Calgary market at a fair price.
  • Industrial-grade heat press equipment with calibrated, even pressure. Our heat presses deliver consistent temperature and uniform pressure across the entire platen, so every print is bonded the same way every single time. No weak corners, no patchy ink, no transfers that lift after the third wash.
  • Proper two-step DTF press technique — not the one-hit shortcut. Many Calgary shops apply DTF transfers with a single press cycle to save time. The reality is that a one-hit press doesn't drive the ink fully into the fibres — it sits on top and starts to lift after a few washes. We use a two-press process: a first press to bond the transfer, peel, then a second press to fully cure the ink into the fabric for maximum wash durability. It's slower. It costs us more time per garment. It's also why our jerseys still look new at the end of the season.
  • Each garment gets the heat profile it actually needs. Cotton, cotton/poly blends, 100% polyester, nylon mesh, and performance fabrics all behave differently under a heat press. We adjust temperature, pressure, dwell time, and platen setup for every fabric type — instead of running every job at the same default settings.
  • Cool-DTF for polyester and nylon. Standard DTF temperatures can scorch polyester and ruin nylon mesh. We use a low-temperature Cool-DTF process specifically engineered for synthetic team fabrics — soccer jerseys, basketball mesh, dri-fit performance tops, nylon jackets — so the print bonds cleanly without melting, glossing, or discolouring the garment. This is the standard for top-quality team apparel.
  • 20+ years and 232 five-star Google reviews. We opened our NE Calgary shop in 2001. We've printed jerseys for hundreds of teams across baseball, soccer, hockey, lacrosse, rugby, ultimate, and every beer league imaginable. The technique above is what those 4.9 stars are built on.
  • Transparent pricing — don't overpay. Every blank shows its per-piece price up front on our products page. Decoration is quoted from your free mockup with no hidden upcharges. If a competitor's quote looks suspiciously cheap, ask them whether they two-press their DTF and what vinyl they use — then call us.
  • Free mockups in 1 business day, real turnaround times. Send your logo and roster; receive a free digital mockup the next business day. Standard production is 5–10 business days after approval. Rush available when the league throws a deadline at you.
  • Walk-in pickup or Canada-wide shipping. Bay 12 — 3300 14 Ave NE, Calgary, or shipped to your team manager's door anywhere in Canada.
  • Full-name + number runs are our specialty. Every roster is double-checked before press. We've done this thousands of times — no typos, no wrong numbers.
  • A real human picks up the phone. Call (403) 387-0211 Monday–Friday 9–5 and you'll get a real person who can pull up your order — not a chatbot, not a ticketing queue.

Bottom line: don't overpay for jerseys that fall apart by mid-season. Come to Garment Express Calgary.

Standard jersey lettering & number sizes (so you know what to expect)

A common question we get from new team managers is "how big should the name and number be?" Here are the industry-standard sizes we use unless you tell us otherwise — these are calibrated for adult jerseys and read cleanly from the bleachers:

  • Player number on the back: approximately 8 inches tall (the dominant element on the back of the jersey).
  • Player number on the front or sleeve: approximately 4 inches tall.
  • Player name on the back (above the number): approximately 2 inches tall, in a clean block or sport-condensed font for legibility.
  • Front chest logo (non-arched team logo or sponsor): up to 11 inches wide as a maximum width. Arched team logos can curve wider across the chest, but a flat horizontal logo should stay within ~11" so it doesn't wrap into the sleeve seams.
  • Sleeve sponsor or patch logo: typically 3–4 inches wide.
  • Youth jerseys: scale numbers down to 6 inches tall on the back, names to 1.5 inches, front logos around 8 inches wide max.

We'll confirm exact sizes on your free mockup before anything goes to press, so you can see and approve placement at scale before committing.

Sports we make custom jerseys for

If your team plays it, we've printed it. Spring lineup includes:

  • Baseball & Softball — full-button jerseys, two-button henleys, raglan sleeves, full-dye sublimated tops, batting practice tees, fan tees.
  • Soccer — moisture-wicking polyester jerseys, club kits, training tees, goalkeeper tops, parent supporter tees.
  • Lacrosse — reversible mesh jerseys, pinnies, practice shooters, bench shirts, hoodies for cold spring evenings.
  • Rugby — heavyweight cotton/poly hoops, training tops, club polos, supporter tees.
  • Ultimate Frisbee — light moisture-wicking jerseys, dark/light reversibles, tournament tees.
  • Track & Field — singlets, training tees, warm-up hoodies, club hats.
  • Cricket — long-sleeve whites, club polos, supporter tees.
  • Football (spring camps & 7-on-7) — practice jerseys, mesh reversibles, helmet decals, sideline hoodies.
  • Volleyball (spring leagues) — moisture-wicking tees, libero contrast tops, club hoodies.
  • Beer-league everything — slow-pitch, dodgeball, kickball, ultimate, recreational hockey.

Don't see your sport? We've probably already done it. Send us a quote request and ask.

Decoration methods we use for jerseys

Different jerseys want different print methods. Here's how we match the method to the project:

  • Screen printing — best for medium-to-large team orders (24+) with bold, spot-colour designs. Most cost-effective at quantity. Long-lasting wash performance.
  • DTF (Direct-to-Film) printing — best for full-colour artwork, photographic logos, sponsor logos with gradients, or smaller runs (12–48 pieces). Soft hand on cotton or blends, no quantity penalty.
  • Sublimation / full-dye — best for moisture-wicking polyester soccer/baseball/ultimate jerseys with all-over team colours, side panels, or pattern designs. Print becomes part of the fabric — no peel, no crack.
  • Embroidery — best for sponsor logos on sleeve patches, club crests on chest, coaches' polos, sideline jackets, hats, and bags. Premium look that lasts seasons.
  • Heat-applied vinyl numbers & names — the standard for player names and numbers on backs. Sharp, durable, and individually cut so every roster line is correct.
  • Sewn-on twill (tackle twill) numbers — for football, baseball, and rugby jerseys that demand a classic, premium feel.

When you send your mockup request we'll recommend the right method (or combination) for your design, quantity, and budget.

Turnaround time for spring teams

Spring deadlines are tight. Here's our honest production schedule:

  • Free mockup back to you: within 1 business day of receiving artwork.
  • Standard production: 5–10 business days from artwork approval to ready-for-pickup or shipping.
  • Rush production: available when your league throws a curveball — call us before you order so we can confirm the timeline before you commit.
  • Shipping inside Calgary: same-day pickup or local courier; usually next-day.
  • Shipping outside Calgary (Canada-wide): 1–4 business days depending on destination.

For a typical 18-player baseball or soccer team ordering blank jerseys + names + numbers, plan on 2 weeks from "yes please" to opening night. If you're tighter than that, call us and we'll see what we can do.

Pricing & minimums

  • Minimum order: 12 pieces for custom decoration. Lower quantities are welcome for blank jerseys without printing.
  • Pricing model: every blank shows its per-piece retail price on our products page. Decoration cost is quoted from your free mockup based on print method, number of locations (front, back, sleeve), and number of colours.
  • Quantity discounts: price drops automatically at 24, 48, and 72+ pieces.
  • Names & numbers: typically $5–$10 per jersey for full back name + number, depending on method.
  • Sponsor logos: add a sleeve or chest sponsor for $1.50–$5 per piece.
